Children’s Welfare International (CWI)
The Children’s Welfare International is a Christian faith-based nonprofit organization founded in the state of Washington in order to provide social services to children in Liberia. Our primary focus is to protect and support the abandoned, abused, underprivileged and former child soldiers who are currently living in the streets of Liberia. CWI seeks to create a more just social order by removing inequalities and promoting a full and fair access to basic needs and rights.
The Mission of CWI
The mission of CWI is to improve the welfare of each child, especially the
orphaned, abused and abandoned children in Liberia by providing a center where they can heal, be nourished, attend school and grow to become healthy and productive citizens of their society.
As part of our Christian principles, CWI is committed to defending the weak and orphans in fulfillment of the teaching of God’s words
( Psalm 82:3).
By this we protect and provide counseling to children who are subject to abusive situations.
At CWI, each child has a future regardless of religion, nationality, ethnicity, or cultural background.
We are also proud to be a member of the Child Rights Information Network (CRIN).
Our guiding principle
CWI believes that all children and their families ought to be protected, supported, empowered and be afforded the opportunity to reach their fullest prospective and to live lives free of violence and abuse; and that services should be both community-based and child-centered.
Our major objectives
To meet the fundamental needs of children in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
To Conduct Bible classes and Bible quizzing which will enable children and their families/relatives learn about the good news of
Jesus Christ.
To provide an early child development and ensure that the older children have access to quality education.
To encourage the education of females through community awareness activities.
To create awareness on the impacts of drugs usage and HIV/AIDS prevention.
To heal the wounds of trauma observed or experienced by children during the war through psychosocial counseling.
To seek the welfare of each child we serve and to provide opportunity where these children can experience the joy of childhood.
Providing educational materials, school supplies and uniforms, nourishment, clothing and health care to the vulnerable children.
To establish hand-on skills training for street children, former child soldiers and school dropouts
